Joni Mitchell “Both Sides Now” with Brandi Carlile Live at Newport Folk ...

I have not stopped watching this beautiful video of Joni at Newport Folk--takes your breath away and the tears are just flowing.  To see Brandi as Joni begins to sing and she was floored as I am now.  The song lyrics really hit home! The song is PROFOUND!  I LOVE this version and the song is like a fine wine--just gets better with time.  

Rows and flows of angel hair--I've never had

but have dreamed of ice cream castles in the air

and what I would give to climb feather canyons everywhere

I've certainly looked at clouds that way for sure!

But like the song says now they only block the sun 

even though they may not rains and snow on everyone like before--no thanks to climate change!

and oh how so many things I would of done but cloud got in my way--and they seem more blackish these days.

Yeah, I've looked at clouds from both sides now, from up and down and still somehow

it's cloud illusions I recall and I really don't know clouds at all.

Moons and Junes and ferris wheels, the dizzy dancing way that I feel and 

as for me the fairy tale never became real and I have given myself away over and over.

And as for low well I've looked at love from both sides now, from give and take

and still somehow it's love's illusions that I recall for I really don't know love,

I really don't know love at all.

Tears (so many) and endless fears and not feeling proud to have never said, "I love you"

right out loud.  Just dreams and schemes and lots of circus crowds.

I've looked at life that way for sure!

And now even old friends well they're acting strange, they shake their heads and

they tell me that I've changed and something's lost.  An understatement for sure!

Yet there is something gained in living every day.

O, yes I've looked at life from both sides now

From win and lose (lots of lose) and still somehow 

It's life's illusions I recall--lately life seems to be full of illusions and 

I really don't know life at all, I really don't know life at all!

Despite the song being sung in Italian--I cannot get enough of this version which has been on repeat mode at home, work and iPhone.  Other versions exist and Andrea Bocelli has a nice version.  The song brings back wonderful memories of my trips to Italy of which I always long to return y siempre es un sueno de esperanza.

My poor blog--been a long time.  Where has time gone?   Lo que puedo decir es que siempre pensando en ti! Eddie Van Halen died yesterday of cancer and while I was not a big follower of the band this is one of two songs that were on my playlist (Dreams was my #1)as I bought the CD to this song.  Notice the title--wonder how many realize the abbreviation of  For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge?  RIP-EVH.

HAUSER: 'Alone, Together' from Arena Pula

How is it that I am just now discovering Hauser?  This piece of music is simply breathtaking and on repeat mode along with tears that stream from my eyes each listen.  The beginning with  Benedictus and the conclusion with Nessun Dorma --absolute heaven!  I am in love and a new fan!  Not too mention he is a pretty nice piece of rock candy! Of course now I want to go to Croatia! Yes, Hauser I will stay home and watch #withme!

Happy 87th Birthday Willie!  I became a fan all over again when I saw this performance.  We sure could all use a Rainbow Connection given the pandemic madness we are in. Kacy your voice is godsend!
