Lost Heart

Lost Heart

This morning while walking the dog I noticed a squirrel scurrying up a tree with something red in his/her mouth. To me it looked like a strawberry but then this afternoon coming back from work I found this. It was right below the tree where I had seen the squirrel. I chuckled at first upon realizing that it was a little red heart. I wondered just where she'd found this. I thought about leaving it where I had found it but I decided that her loss was my gain.

I feel special now!
BTW2...Mario is my new fanmenco bud who as it turns out practically lives in my backyard! Surprise! Surprise! It turns out that both of us went to see Ottmar's concert last October and we're looking forward to seeing Ottmar in December.

Something to Look Forward To...

YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN TEXAS IN JULY WHEN. . . .

* The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
* The trees are whistling for the dogs.
* The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
* Hot water now comes out of both taps.
* You can make sun tea instantly.
* You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
* The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.
* You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.
* You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
* You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
* You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.
* Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"
* You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
* The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.
* Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.
* The cows are giving evaporated milk. Ah, what a place to call home.
God Bless Our State of *TEXAS !!*

Texas Sunset

I take a Yoga class once a week and at the end we meditate and take our minds back to a place where time stands still and is a fond memory for us. In my mind, I go back to this place and sit at the edge of the pier meditating on sunsets like these. BTW, this place is out in the country near a small, small town called Yorktown, Tx. My friend has about 50 acres out there. When I first went out there, I couldn't stand the silence. Last time I went, I couldn't get enough of it and besides what nature provided...coyotes howling at night and birds singing during the day. An infinite number of stars at night and deer passing by at dusk.

6:09

What is 6:09? Fanmencos should know this magic number as it is pure bliss. Have you guessed it yet?! 6:09 is as close to heaven as one can get. It is magical. It is a number that takes my breath away. It is uplifting, it is mesermizing and it is addictive. I can stop listening to it as it has been on the repeat playlist on my computer. It is nameless at the moment and maybe that's the way it should stay or maybe it should just be titled 6:09 or even by his new Dharma Name-Zenho. Nonetheless, it is said that a title is coming soon but until then I will call it 6:09 for it will always take me to that place within the self where time stands still.

Ingredients include peanuts, & marshmallows and bet you couldn't eat just one! The reason, I love to share and give them away as I certainly cannot afford to be eating chocolate all the time.

Reflections

It's back to work on Monday after a week's vacation. While the week went by fast it was full of surprises. I can't go into details right now but will say that sometimes we are so busy looking ahead that we forget to look behind and see the beauty that we're passing up along the way.

...The sign that I couldn't read, or a light that I couldn't see, all those signs, if only I knew what they meant. Some things you have to believe,
but others are puzzles, puzzling me*

*I borrowed words from the song "Speed of Sound" by Coldplay as this week signs went flying by me at the speed of sound.

Meditation

Meditation
Originally uploaded by nieve44.

I'm on vacation this week and since I didn't travel outside of Houston physically, I decided to leave Houston mentally. I treated myself to a Reiki massage on Thursday. Reiki (which is pronounced "ray-key") is a laying-on of hands healing technique that is thousands of years old. It is a Japanses technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Originally, it was a Buddhist practice.

During the massage I felt a wonderful glowing radiance that flowed through me and around me. Frankly, the therapist massaged me as a whole person--spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally. I've been on an emotional high all day.

Frances Garza is a modern day Curandera--a healer of sorts. She encouraged me to meditate on a daily basis of which I had been neglecting to do so. No more excuses and no more failing to make time. Thus, I will close this blog and end my day with silence by taking my mind on an extended vacation.

It's here!

June 1st. Let the Hurricane Wars begin! :-( 6 months and counting! Time to stockpile on some bare necessities. Batteries, portable radio/tv, water, flashlights, candles, canned food and more food and dust off the Scrabble game...just to name a few. For those who have lived through the eye of the storm feel free to add to my list. Here's hoping we all stay safe and dry over the next few months.
