The Resistance!
My poster for the Women's March here in Houston! What an incredible experience to participate in the march that was free of violence and full of love for my fellow sisters and brothers for that matter. No violence or defamation of property as that is totally unacceptable and inexcusable. Solidarity was the overwhelming feeling and I can't believe the march was practiced on such a global level.
On a side note: I biked to the march with friends--loving my new bike!!!

Happy Blessed 60th Wedding Anniversary to my parents! Can't believe it's been 10 years already since we celebrated your 50th and this sweet music that played as we danced that night together as a family. Those memories will always be pressed between the pages of mind.

El Alcahuete!
Sad news to hear on the passing of Bishop Flores today. He was beloved by my family as we were kids when we moved to Houston and attended mass at his parish. He knew my brother and me by our first names and always full of laughter and shared cookies or candy with us. He was the main celebrant for my parent's 50 Wedding Anniversary on 1/13/2007 in Corpus and were honored to have him in our presence on that special day. I will never forget his sermon, "quien fue el alcahuete que unio a Lupe y Goyo en su vida de amor"? Fue Dios!!

"Champagne and Reefer"
Great song that never gets old. Quiet night at home but 'bout to sit outside next to fire pit, open up a bottle for an obligatory sip of champagne sans reefer though and listen to the fireworks across the way. Still, I missed the show like last New Years Eve. Didn't travel any place during my two week holiday break and it about killed me to be tethered by duty to family and lack of $.

The Longest Night Of The Year
Another winter solstice--my favorite solstice of all the seasons but not feeling much like a cold winter's night and no staring into the fire light. Tonight only the darkest of hearts resides and the sun seems like a long lost friend. Tomorrow, after the longest night of the year, I will try to welcome back the light.
