100+ Club

Music: Back to You, John Mayer
Mood: Groovin

Ever have one of thoses days/nights when you're surfing the TV for that right movie. You know the one that you've seen over and over but can't seem to get enough of! The one you can watch and know all the words to each and every scene. Some that you've gone out and bought but when you come across it on the television--you still sit and watch it and tack on another digit to the number of times you've seen it. This is better known as the 100+ club. Sunday was just one of those days when I came across,"Pretty Woman", which got me thinking about how many times I've seen it along with several others. Here's my list--and not in any particular order. Feel free to add to it or share your list.

1. Pretty Woman
2. The American President
3. The Graduate
4. Bend It Like Beckam
5. Princess Diaries
6. Corina, Corina
7. Regarding Henry
8. Top Gun
9. Shawshank Redemption
10. Miss Congeniality
11. Two Weeks Notice
12. The Cutting Edge
13. Dances With Wolves
14. Sleepless in Seattle
15. Ever After
16. Legally Blonde
17. Return to Me
18. The Way We Were
19. Starman
20. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
21. Witness

Wow, that's a long list and alot of movie watching.

Shadow Dancing

In the afternoon the sun lights up the living room of my apartment and shadows from the trees dance upon the wall on one of my favorite paintings by the artist Howard Behrens . This print is titled Mediterranean Colors. "His paintings have a specific goal, a singular intent, no matter what the subject matter: to bring the pleasure of being alive to the foreground of our awareness". Whenever I'm feeling down all I have to do is stare at this print and I'm taken away into another realm.

Fairy Tales

This is the fairy tale that we should have been reading as little
girls!

Once upon a time,
in a land far away,
a beautiful, independent,
self-assured princess
happened upon a frog as she sat,
contemplating ecological issues
on the shores of an unpolluted pond
in a verdant meadow near her castle.
The frog hopped into the princess' lap
and said: Elegant Lady,
I was once a handsome prince,
until an evil witch cast a spell upon me.
One kiss from you, however,
and I will turn back
dapper, a young prince that I am
and then, my sweet, we can marry
and setup housekeeping in your castle
with my mother,
where you can prepare my meals,
clean my clothes, bear my children,
and forever
feel grateful and happy doing so.
That night,
as the princess dined sumptuously
on a repast of lightly sauteed frog legs
seasoned in a white wine
and onion cream sauce,
she chuckled and thought to herself:
I don't fucking think so.

Danny Boy

Hey Danny Boy
behind the counter at Whole Foods
You sure were a cutie with your hello and sweet smile.
Did you see me from afar smiling back at you?
Might just have to come back tomorrow night
for some more of your magic charm.

Happy Cupid Day.

Saw the latest show 'Varekai' by Cirque du Soleil this afternoon. Varekai means "wherever" and is another amazing performance that I could see again and again. If you've never seen a show then you need to treat yourself to enterainment beyond your wildest imagination. This was my 5th show to see and already looking forward to the next one. This was another moment that took my breath away and another memento to add to my box.

Kimberly and Jhon...

God has led two lives
to take one path.
I just recieved a wedding invitation to my friend's wedding. The wedding will be March 12th @ 5:30 and she has asked me to be the maid of honor (again). I say that jokingly because this time I really am honored to be standing in her wedding. These two hold a special place in my heart as they are both blind but to look at them you would never know. Kim has some limitied vision--she lost normal eyesight some 10 years ago and Jhon has been completely blind since about the age of 24. They met while in college and have been together for about 2 years now. We have become good friends over the past few years and to be in their presence just illuminates my world in ways I cannot even begin to express. Quite frankly, they are two of my heroes. Kym and I have been busy the past few weekends getting ready for her big day. Her dress, my dress, the shoes, flowers, alterations, dinner reception, etc and the days are flying by quickly. As soon as I get some pictures, I will post them on the web site but I'm looking forward to a very special day as these two begin their joyful journey.

When it Rains

Music: Dreaming from the Labyrinth, Tish Hinojosa
Mood: Dreaming

I was blogging on Ottmar's blog about the cd I'm listening too right now and realized it's been awhile since I've listened to this wonderful CD. The first track is titled, "When it Rains" and its appropriate given the rainy day we had today. At the office, I found myself looking out the window at the dreary day longing to crawl back into bed and dream of a warm sunny day but I'll have to wait until tomorrow when the sun will bring the break of another day.

Crumbs

...you speak of signs and wonders
But I need something other
I would believe if I was able but
I’m waiting on the crumbs from your table.
When I first heard the lyrics from U2's song it just hit home in so many ways. I blogged this to declare that I'm tired of waiting on the crumbs. Am I speaking of a relationship or lack of--perhaps, but these words could be applicable to the current government in D.C., to the CEO's of Corporate meltdowns...aka Enron who repeatedly fill their pocketbooks. The list could go and on. Any other situations where other bloggers feel these words could be applicable?

I HATE TRAINS!!!!

Can you tell I live near a railroad crossing? TOO CLOSE for me! For awhile I was able to tune the horns out but latey I cannot! :-(
